When that is the case, humidity often falls around 20-30%, which can make you feel like you have respiratory irritation. A good range for people, as shown in the graphic below, is about the 30-65% humidity range. Once you go above that, then you risk triggering mold and dust mites indoors. Luckily for us, most of the tropical varieties we have indoors prefer mid-range humidity too, and with good humidifiers indoors, you can even set the percentage of humidity that you prefer for you and your plants. Warmth is also an underappreciated component of plant health, and most often many plants fall into "warm" or "cool" plants. Plants such as Christmas or Thanksgiving cacti, for example, require a certain degree of cold and darkness to induce flowering year-after-year; while other ones generally can't tolerate lower temperatures, since photosynthesis can shutdown directly.
